The advantage of TPE is its elasticity in offering a creative room for the designers to lead the trend of new products, to add values for the products and to strengthen the leading position in the market.

Since it is mostly welcome by all walks of life, the dual application has turned into a trend in recent years. The international brands are exploring the way to use shell moulds to cover the products. The covering of shaft of high quality tools, toys, car accessories and electronic products makes the product trendy and higher value. T-Blend is your best choice.

Environmentally-friendly with no pollution (meets ROHS, FDA, ASTM and EN71 specifications)

In the recent years of industrial materials development, apart from achieving high effectiveness, diversification and professionalism of products, it is a trend to set the target of high efficiency, energy saving and green management. VCN TPE materials can meet your requirement on this aspect. TPE excels in its feature of non-toxicity, low pollution and recyclability. It gradually replaces PVC materials which are limited in import by European countries. Also, in view of environmental protection, the international brands turn to use TPE materials from PVC and rubber. This makes a fast development stage for application of TPE in various production sectors.

Technical and Factual Data

  • Classification of polymer
Polymer is composed of different monomers by natural and artifitial means. The brief classification is as follows:

  • Introduction of TPE
The short form of Thermoplastic Elastomer is TPE, another name is Thermoplastic Rubber (TPR). It is also called artificial rubber. This includes a series of different kinds of elastic plastics materials. In the market, the common materials are SBS, SEBS, TPU, TPV and TPEE etc.

  • Processing Advantages of TPE
    1) The common finishing means can be applied – injection, extrusion, blow-molding and compression molding etc.
    2) Short production cycle, as there is no need to add sulphur and conduct vulcanization.
    3) It can be blended with different formula to change the surface tactile and the physical properties to cater for different applications
    4) The remaining materials can be recycled during the finishing process to reduce the production cost for the sake of environmental protection.

  • Comparison of TPE and vulcanized rubber
The advantages of TPE against vulcanized rubber are as follows:-
    1) The production process is relatively simple. The production cycle is shorter to be economical
    2) The waste and the scraps can be recycled for the sake of environmental protection
    3) More flexibility on product design

  • Comparison of TPE and PVC
In recent years, the application of TPE on toys is becoming common. TPE is used in toy wheels as well as hands and legs of dolls. Apart from the fact that TPE can replace PVC, the unique properties of TPE provide a creative room for toy designers to design.

  • Overmolding Applications
Since it is mostly welcome by all walks of life, the dual application has turned into a trend in recent years. The international brands are exploring the way to use shell molds to cover the products. The covering of shaft of high quality tools, toys, car accessories and electronic products makes the product trendy and higher value.

  • Examples of joint finishing with PP bonding series
It is not difficult to conduct overmolding. The most important is to choose the appropriate materials. The hardness of the PP adhesive series provided by VCN (HK) is from 15A to 80A. A larger number represents a harder surface of the material. Generally, the clients use TPE of 45A and 55A as the hardness of human skin is between 50A and 55A.

  • General Injection Molding Techniques
    Rheology Stability Screw Design
    Sprues Gate Shrinkage
Cylinder Temp. Injection Rate Mould Temperature
    Purging Pre-Heating Colouring

  • Common discrepancies of plastic products (cause and improvement methods)
Crack on products Flow marks Black veins
    Unfavourable luster of product surface
    Well lines Incomplete mold fills
    Burr overflow
    Injection veins Deform of products
Sticky molding at runners Sticky molding of products Shrinkage of products
